Academic Departments - Music
Pupils study a wide range of musical styles through listening, composing and performing. There is an emphasis on practical work and girls have the opportunity to use a wide variety of instruments, working both in groups and individually.
Music is part of the curriculum throughout years 7,8 and 9. It is offered as a GCSE option and for appropriate candidates at AS and A2 levels.
There are numerous opportunities throughout the school year for pupils to perform in front of an audience, usually in either the School Chapel, with its wonderful acoustics, or the Performing Arts Centre. The annual Inter-House Music Competition involves every girl in the school and is thoroughly enjoyed by all. |
