Academic Departments - Physical
Education
At St. David's the PE department believes the main emphasis is on enjoyment and participation, through this we are able to develop and enhance our pupil's knowledge and skill.
When girls enter the Senior School they can apply for a Sports Scholarship worth up to 25% of their fees.

We believe there is a sport available for every girl to enjoy and be involved in, whether it is in the Hockey or Netball team playing regular fixtures and attending county trials or participating in aerobics or circuit training at lunchtime. We strive to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential, within curriculum time and in extra curricular activities. |
The curriculum is varied and offers many different sports both during lessons, at lunch time and after school. The sports taught range from Hockey, Football, Gymnastics, Dance, Tennis, Rounders and Athletics. Once we have built the girls enjoyment and enthusiasm for such sports through their lessons, we then feel it is very important to give them the opportunity to face competition through regular fixtures against other schools, leading on to county and national competitions. Squad training is held either before school or at lunch time and all girls who are selected are expected to attend.
For the older girls we offer activities such as Self Defence, Trampolining, Badminton and Aerobics. The emphasis on Sixth Form PE is to create leisure based opportunities and make use of the facilities in our local area, such as Leisure Centres, Outdoor Education Centres, Golf Courses, Squash, and Martial Arts to name a few. As they progress through the school we feel it is important to present them with sporting opportunities that they will continue with once the leave.

We hold inter house, Hockey, Netball, Cross country, Rounders, Tennis and Athletics competitions, which are greatly supported by the girls and help develop their healthy competitive nature.
