Academic - Sixth Form Introduction
The Sixth Form years are a bridge between the discipline of home and school and the total freedom of university.
We offer a special environment at St. David’s, with small study groups, a great deal of individual attention, support, encouragement, and careers advice.
In the first year, girls choose four subjects to study at AS level. Most students then choose three of these to study for the second year at A2 level.
It is our aim to equip all our students with the necessary study skills and self-discipline to make a success of A levels and their further study, achieving the very highest grades of which they are capable. The regime is more relaxed, the relationship with staff much closer and the work much more demanding. Students are monitored closely initially, with supervised study periods and regular grade reviews, so that guidance can be given along the right path at the time it is needed.
They are seen as role models by the younger pupils, which encourages a more mature approach from the very first term. Students readily assume positions of responsibility, which are viewed very favourably by universities.
After an enjoyable two years, where they study, socialise and gradually assume responsibility, they leave us for university with good qualifications and well-developed skills for a successful future.
