World Champions!
Acrobatic Gymnasts Ellie Cooper and Katie Axten competed in the World Championships held in Portugal in the week of June 16th.
Ellie aged 12 competed in the 11-16 age group with her partner Cassie. They were the silver medallists in the womens’ pairs event.
Katie Axten celebrated her 14th birthday whilst in Portugal. She and her partner Christian Beecher won the Junior mixed pairs event and are now WORLD CHAMPIONS!
Lost Property
There is a substantial amount of unnamed uniform in the school office, including a new blazer, several sweatshirts, hats, scarves and gloves.
If you think any items might belong to your daughter, they should be claimed quickly. Unclaimed items will be donated to the FoSD Second Hand Uniform Shop.
Gymnastics
St. David’s is currently the most successful school in the country in the discipline of Sports Acrobatics. They once again represented the London Region in the National Acrobatics Gymnastics Competition, held in Stoke on Trent this month. Four gold and 15 silver medals were won.
15 regions took part including Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
St. David’s represented the London Region in 7 of the possible 9 events and were the only school to represent their region in all 3 age groups.
Katie Axten and Paris Lever won gold medals and retained title as U19 British Champions.
Ellie Cooper and Abigail Ralph also won gold medals to become the U13 National Champions. They had previously won the same title in the U11’s age group in 2005.
Mercedes Pegado and Anne-Marie Seabourne (our youngest competitor at 8 years) took the silver medal in the U11 category.
Danusia Francis improved on last years’ performance to win silver in U13 Tumbling.
Both the U11 and U13 squad won silver medals in the Group Event.

St. David’s has an elite group of gymnasts who train in excess of 20 hours per week to reach gold medal standard. Ellie Cooper (12) and Katie Axten (13) have qualified for the World Championships in Portugal this month.
Some of the girls who competed in Stoke on Trent have never before competed in a National event.
The team have been sponsored by the Friends Of St. David’s, who have contributed towards the cost of the travel and accommodation.
We are also very grateful to Len Smith, school uniform outfitter. Mr. Smith kindly designed and donated squad T shirts in time for the National Finals.
The team are trained by Neil Griffiths of The Spelthorne Gymnastics Club in Ashford.
Regional Competition - February 2006
15 schools, Independent and Maintained, took part in the Regional Qualifer of the Sports Acrobatics Championships at Hillingdon School of Gymnastics on Sunday 5th February. St. David's entered its largest squad ever - 23 girls ranging from 6-16 years across all 3 age groups (U11,U13,U19) and was the only school to compete in all events, both floor and tumbling at all 3 age ranges.
9 events were entered and gold medals were won in 8 of them. Of these 9 events, gold and silver were won in 4 of them.
The team won 27 gold medals, 7 silver and a bronze, which entitiled St. David’s School to again represent the London Region in 8 events at the National Sports Acrobatics Championships, held at Fenton Manor, Stoke-on-Trent, in May of this year.
