School Life - Pastoral Care
Senior School
All Year Groups are divided into 2 forms each under the care of a Form Tutor who meets with the girls at the beginning and end of the school day. The Form Tutor is the first point of reference for the pupil if there is a problem or query to be resolved.
In addition the Form Tutor oversees the pupil diary, which is an important link between school and home.
If a serious issue should arise or one which the Form Tutor is unable to resolve then the Form Tutor will consult with the Head of Section (a Tutor who has overview of one or two Year Groups). The next point of reference would be the Deputy Head and ultimately the Head.
If there is a concern about work or conversely an opportunity to praise a piece of work, the subject teacher will write in the pupil diary and inform the Form Tutor who has overview of the progress and development of each girl in the Form.
The programme of Personal, Social and Health Education is also delivered by the Form Tutor.
A system of Rewards and Sanctions exists which is explained to all pupils on entry to the school and which is clearly understood by all.
Sixth form
In the Sixth Form the pastoral care operates on a more relaxed and informal basis but is nevertheless extremely supportive, as work has to be carefully monitored and issues such as university applications need to be discussed. Guidance and advice is given generously and girls are free to approach any member of staff in the Sixth Form Team.
Boarding
House staff are always available to listen, providing an important link between school and the home environment of the boarding house. We offer a happy, caring environment and encourage every girl to reach her full potential
Medical Room
The Medical Room is well-equipped and staffed from 8.30am – 3.30 pm. A neighbouring doctors’ surgery is available to provide a service for the Boarding House at any time should the need arise.
